The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid are proposing changes to Medicare Part D drug plans. The proposal would rescind the requirement that dentists enroll in or validly opt-out of Medicare for any Part D prescription to be covered. The proposed changes in Medicare rules would also rescind the provision that dentists be enrolled in Medicare in order to provide dental services to patients enrolled in Part C Medicare Advantage plans.

The proposed changes were announced by CMS on November 16th and will be published in the Federal Register by the end of November. The changes would be effective sometime in the beginning of 2018. For additional information go to www.cms.gov.
